Junior Olympic Softball Organization
The New Hampshire Comets is an independent softball organization, based in Bow, New Hampshire,
whose primary purpose is to provide a supportive environment for female athletes to
improve their softball skills, and participate in quality tournament play.
2014 will be our 16th year of existence.
We typically field competitive ASA softball teams at the 12-U, 14-U, 16-U, 18-U levels. In 2014 we will
field a 10-U team, two 12-U teams, two 14-U teams, three 16-U teams and an 18-U team.
We create teams that can compete at a high level,
made up of players from Bow, surrounding towns, and all over New England.
We charter ASA, NSA, and PONY as A-level select/travel teams, and play
25-40 games primarily in June and July tournaments.

The New Hampshire Comets 10U softball team were
runner-up at the 2013 New Hampshire State Tournament
The 10U New Hampshire Comets finished Runners Up in the NH ASA State Tournament. The Comets opened up with a 14-2 win over the NE Diamond Gems, Megan Blanchette got the win and had 10-strikeouts. Ami Rivera and Shannon Gifford each with bases loaded cleared the bases with long shots to the outfield. The 2nd Game, Comets defeated the Rochester Slammers, 8-1 behind Gifford's no hitter and 9-strikeouts. Rivera had 2-hits, Ellie Frederick, Alyssa DiMauro and Blanchette all chipped in with a hit apiece. In the 3rd Game, The Comets fell to the Breakers, 13-2. Comets rebounded well defeating Northeast Hurricanes, 10-2. Frederick got the win on the mound, Rivera (4-RBI's), Sydney Nelson and Bella Wilkerson (2-RBI's) led the offense with 2-hits each. The Comets then faced the Seacoast Breakers for the 10U NH State Championship in a very competitive, well played game but the Breakers pulled off the victory, 11-9. Rivera, Frederick, and Gifford all had 2-hits each, and Syd. Nelson and Megan Kimball-Rhines chipped in with a hit each. The weekend was also highlighted by the Comets turning 3 double plays and a runner being picked off 3rd base in the semi-finals by Wilkerson. Izzy Nelson pitched well in relief, Sarah Cook and Sadie Merrow also had played well for the Comets.

The New Hampshire Comets 16U Blue softball team were
champions at the 2013 NSA Firecracker Blast Tournament
NH Comets U16 Blue won the 2013 NSA Firecracker Blast in Dracut Mass this weekend.
The Comets went 3-0 in pool play to earn the top seed with wins over the Mass Drifters, Danvers Academy and NH Lady Cannons.
Comets beat the Dracut Dominators 12-4 in the quarterfinals behind Meg Kissinger in the circle and hitting from Katherine Muzzey (3 for 4), Sam Curran (1-2, HR).
In the semifinals, the Comets beat Academy 12-1 with Lily Rivera earning the win and hitting from Steph Carl (3 for 3) and Rivera (2 for 2).
In the finals the Comets defeated the NE Storm 8-1 behind a 3 hit effort from Jess Santis in the circle. Strong hitting throughout the Comet lineup and solid defense was seen in the championship game and throughout the weekend.

The New Hampshire Comets 16U White softball team were
champions at the 2013 Summer Sizzler Tournament
The U16 Comets White team defeated the VT Rockets 7-1 to take First Place in the Summer Sizzler Tournament in Brattleboro, VT
The Comets finished Saturday with a 2-1 record, and were the #2 seed. Their first game on Sunday was a run-rule game versus the VT Thunder.
The Semi-Final game was another run-rule game against the Westford Waves. That took the team back to the main field for a rematch against the Rockets,
who had handed the Comets their only loss. It was a close game until the 7th when the Comets scored 4 runs to put the game away.

The New Hampshire Comets 10U battled with the New Hampshire Comets 12U for the championship of the 2013 Cannon's Classic Tournament
The New Hampshire Comets 12U defeated the Comets 10U, 7-3 in the Championship Game at the Memorial Day Weekend Cannons Classic. The Comets 12U team advanced by defeating the Concord Cannons, 7-0 behind a 1-hit pitching performance by Tournament MVP Olivia Baldyga. The Comets 10U advanced by defeating the previously unbeaten Massachusetts Voodoo, 4-1 behind a 2-hit, 9-strikeout pitching performance by Shannon Gifford, setting up an all Comets Championship Game. Aneicia Vargas led the offense for the Comets 12U with 3-hits including a triple (7-hits total in the tournament). Lacy McNeel (2-hits) scored 6-runs in 4 games, Anita DiBuono (2-hits including a home run in the semi-finals game) and Jada Duvert also had a 3-run triple in the semi-finals game for the Comets 12U. Lauryn Colby pitched well in the Championship Game. Ami Rivera (6-hits, Batted .500 average) was named MVP for the Comets 10U. Sydney Nelson (4-hits, Batted .400 average), Bella Wilkerson and Gifford each batted .300 average for the tournament. Megan Blanchette and Ann Bascom pitched very well and combined for 10 strikeouts for the Comets 10U.

The New Hampshire Comets 12U softball team were champions at the 2013 Nor'Easter Classic in Laconia, NH.
The U12 New Hampshire Comets won the 2013 Nor'Easter Classic. The Comets went 6-0 over the weekend, led by the defense of Olivia McCarty, Nicole Cacciola and Grace Hallet. The Comets beat the NH Cannons in the opening game led by Jada Duvert scoring three runs. Kendall Hamilton, Aniecia Vargas and Anita DiBuono each had two hits each to lead the offense past the Nor'Easters 11-1. Olivia Baldyga led the way from the circle to beat the Methuen Rangers 10-1. In the quarter-finals, Lauryn Colby delivered a one-hit, no-walk pitching performance to beat the Inter-Lakes Angels 2-1. Abby Santis and Lacey McNeel both doubled in the semi-finals to lead the Comets past the New England Diamond Gems, 6-4. In the Championship game, Abby Rochette threw a one-hit shutout to beat the Shrewsbury Shockers, 3-0. The Comets out scored their opponents 41-8 over the weekend.
The New Hampshire Comets 14U Red softball team were champions at the 2013 Lakes Region Girls Softball Jamboree
The New Hampshire Comets 14U Red won the Lakes Region Girls Softball Jamboree, sweeping all five of its games over the weekend of June 22-23. The Comets opened with convincing pool play wins over the Rochester Slammers and Souhegan Valley. Lauren Hatch was an overwhelming force in those two games, hitting three home runs and three doubles while driving in 16 runs. Sarah Moriarty had two hits and Bethany Hector pitched a complete game against Rochester. Gillian Kayo contributed a double and Katie Wallace scored four runs against Souhegan Valley. In Sunday’s quarterfinal against Plymouth, the Comets banged out nine hits and eight runs in the first two innings in a 10-5 victory. Allie Jacques tripled and singled, while her sister, Sam Jacques, had two hits, scored three runs, and got the win in the circle. In the semifinal against the Dover Attack, the Comets scored five in the first and eight in the third to cruise to a 14-3 win. Kelly Varnell led the offense with a double and a single. Kaylee Marshe got the win with the defensive help of Zoe Honigberg, Carly Ouellette, and Lauren Hatch, who turned a nifty double play to snuff out a Dover rally.
In the final, the Comets topped the Northeast Invasion 14-4, with Sam Jacques getting the win and Kaylee Marshe striking out the side in the Invasion’s last inning. Sam Jacques opened the scoring with a home run in the first inning, which the Invasion answered with a home run of their own to tie the game 1-1 as the Comets came to bat in the bottom of the second inning. Sarah Moriarty led off with a double and Carly Ouellette followed with a single. Two outs later with one run in, Bethany Hector, Zoe Honigberg, and Allie Jacques hit consecutive singles to plate three more runs and give the Comets a 5-1 lead. The Invasion came right back in the third inning to draw within one at 5-4, but the Comets blew the game open in the third. Hatch walked and Moriarty singled to lead off the inning. Two quick outs followed, but then back to back walks by Wallace and Hector forced in the Comets’ sixth run; and Honigberg and Allie Jacques each hit two-run singles to up the lead to 10-4. After Sam Jacques walked, Hatch delivered again with a double down the left field line to score two more. The Invasion never threatened after that and the Comets claimed the championship.

The New Hampshire Comets 14U Red softball team took home the championship from the 2012 Pumpkin Smash Tournament
in Abington Massachusetts on October 20-21
The Comets opened the weekend with a 9-2 victory over Whitman, led by Kelly Varnell's two triples and a double. The Comets then suffered their only loss of the weekend, 5-3 to the Boston Batbusters. A late Comets rally led by Sarah Moriarty and Zoe Honigberg was snuffed out before it could be completed. In the third game on Saturday, the Comets rallied from an early hole to defeat the Worcester Heat 6-4 with Katie Wallace leading the comeback .
Seeded third for Sunday's single elimination play, the Comets had to come from behind in every game. They faced an early five run deficit against Milton (Mass.), but chipped away and scored two in the bottom of the last inning to grab a 6-5 walk-off win. Lauren Hatch tripled to open the inning and scored on a double to tie the game. After a bunt moved the runner over to third, Bethany Hector delivered the game-winning single to move the Comets to the semifinals against the hosts from Abington. The semifinal was a seesaw battle early, but the Comets had two big innings late to win 13-8. Carly Ouellette delivered a key RBI single and made a great play at third, Gillian Kayo had two hits and drove in two runs, while Allie Jacques turned a nifty double play from her catcher position to end an Abington threat in the last inning.
The final against first seed Pembroke (Mass.) saw multiple Comets rallies, ending in an 8-7 victory. Kaylee Marshe was outstanding in relief to shut Pembroke down as she had done to other opponents all weekend. Sam Jacques contributed a key hit to help bring the Comets back and Sam Hammond made a circus catch in center field to preserve the lead in the sixth. Marshe set Pembroke down in order in the seventh, taking care of the last batter herself to end the game.

The New Hampshire Comets 18U Red teams were Champions
at the NSA Monster Bash Tournament
The 18U NH Comets concluded their 2012 fall season with a 1st place finish at the NSA Monster Bash Tournament held in Dracut, MA. The Comets went undefeated on the weekend during double elimination play.
The Comets got things started with a 3 – 0 win over the Concord Cannons and never looked back on the weekend. Kaley Patterson and Haeli Campbell combined to pitch a no hitter with 9 strike outs over 6 innings. Deven Goss went 2 – 2, Katie Kennard RBI single and Sarah Lavallee and Emma Rhodes contributed with hits.
In the second game, the Comets quickly got down to business and run ruled the favored Worcester Hawks 8 – 0. Sarah Lavallee pitched a complete game with 3 strike outs and 3 hits and held the Hawks scoreless. The offense was led by Mindy Carl who went 3 – 3, triple and 4 RBIs, Kaley Patterson .667BA with 2 RBIs, Haeli Campbell .667BA with 1 RBI and Deven Goss .667BA. Emma Rhodes .500BA (.667OBP), Katie Kennard and Kristin Boduch .500BA each also contributed on offense.

On Sunday morning the Comets knocked out the Middlesex Crossfire who had also been undefeated in the brackets with a score of 4 – 1. Sarah Lavallee pitched another outstanding game holding the Crossfire to just 5 hits over 5 innings with 3 strike outs. The offense was led once again by the hot bat of Mindy Carl who hit another triple with 2 RBIs. Deven Goss went 2 – 2, 1 RBI, Katie Kennard 2 – 2, double and 1 RBI and Kaley Patterson .667BA with 2 stolen bases.
In the championship game the Comets faced the Worcester Hawks once again and completed the undefeated weekend with a 6 – 4 win. The pitching combination of Lavallee, Campbell and Patterson held the Hawks to 5 hits with 4 strikeouts. Deven Goss went 2 – 2, 1 RBI and 1 stolen base, Ashley Deyo triple, 1 RBI and 1 stolen base and Sarah Lavallee with a double and 1 RBI. Also contributing on offense was Haeli Campbell with a double (.500BA), Kaley Patterson 1 RBI and Alex Haskell 1 RBI.
